Amanda Weltman
South African Research Chair in Physical Cosmology

Associate Professor Amanda Weltman is the South African Research Chair in Physical Cosmology, and is a Presidential rated theoretical physicist in the Department of Mathematics and Applied Mathematics at the University of Cape Town in South Africa. She completed her PhD under the supervision of Prof. Brian Greene at Columbia University, NYC, USA in 2007. She was awarded a prestigious Centre for Theoretical Cosmology postdoc at the Department of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics at Cambridge University in the UK. Weltman has made path-breaking contributions to the field of theoretical cosmology, most notably the discovery of chameleon gravity. She is an inaugural Next Einstein Fellow and a member of the Global Young Academy.
