Aku lives and works in Accra, Ghana, as a health policy and systems research consultant, where she focuses on issues of health systems governance, management and leadership, public sector accountability, organizational innovation, and learning, and in particular applying complexity theory to these issues. She is involved in a blend of teaching, facilitation and research, and sits on the Board of Directors of Health Systems Global, the governing body of the international membership organization of health policy and systems research globally where she represents the Africa region.

Aku is a life-long student of science and she believes strongly in nurturing homegrown African talent and ideas. She believes that the continent needs to move into an era where it generates, trains and retains her own scientists and thinkers for social and economic development.
