Dr. Sanushka Naido completed her Bachelor of Science and honour’s degrees at the University of KwaZulu Natal, and master’s degree at the University of Stellenbosch, SA with distinctions. She was awarded a Mellon Foundation Mentoring Award to complete her PhD. Sanushka is currently Senior Lecturer in the Department of Genetics, University of Pretoria, is President of the South African Genetics Society (2018-2018) and holds a Y-rating by the South African National Research Foundation (2015-2020). Her research is dedicated to plant defence in forest species, with an emphasis on Eucalyptus. Sanushka hopes to improve understanding and acceptance of plant biotechnology as a means to enhance crops in Africa.
