Haruo Takeda a obtenu son diplôme du Département de génie mathématique de l'Université de Tokyo en 1980 et a également obtenu son doctorat de l'Université de Tokyo. Après avoir rejoint Hitachi, il s'est impliqué dans la R & D en intelligence artificielle pendant plus de 20 ans. De 1990 à 1992, il a été chercheur invité au laboratoire de robotique du Département d'informatique de l'Université Stanford. De 2008 à 2011, il a dirigé le laboratoire de recherche avancée d'Hitachi. De 2012 à 2014, il a dirigé le Technology Strategy Center, au siège d'Hitachi.
Il est actuellement responsable du projet “Science, Technology and Innovation for SDGs” à l'Académie d'Ingénierie du Japon, membre du Conseil de Stratégie de Marché de la Commission Electrotechnique Internationale, membre du Comité de Stratégie Energétique au Cabinet du Japon, membre du comité consultatif de la technologie du ministère de l'Agriculture, des Forêts et des Pêches, le président du comité stratégique de l'Association des fabricants d'électricité du Japon, responsable des infrastructures intelligentes dans un programme international de R & D de l'Agence japonaise des sciences et technologies. Il a remporté un prix d'argent au Concours international de piano Chopin en Asie en 2016, dans la division senior de la région de Kanagawa.

Dr. Haruo Takeda graduated from Department of Mathematical Engineering, University of Tokyo in 1980, got his PhD also from University of Tokyo. After joining Hitachi, he engaged in R&D in artificial intelligence for more than 20 years. From 1990 through 1992 he was a visiting scholar in Robotics Laboratory of Department of Computer Science, Stanford University. From 2008 through 2011, he was the head of the Advanced Research Laboratory of Hitachi. From 2012 through 2014, he was the head of the Technology Strategy Center, in HQ of Hitachi.
He is currently the project leader of “Science, Technology and Innovation for SDGs” in the Engineering Academy of Japan, a member of Market Strategy Board in International Electrotechnical Commission, a member of the Energy Strategy Committee in Cabinet Office of Japan, a member of the technology advisory committee of Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, the chairman of Strategy Committee in the Japan Electrical Manufacturer’s Association, the head of Intelligent Infrastructure in an international R&D program of Japan Science and Technology Agency. He won a Silver Prize in the senior division of Kanagawa region in the Chopin International Piano Competition in ASIA in 2016.
